As the New Creative Journal is a flexible tool that can be combined with other approaches, the training is not only open to therapists and social workers, but also to teachers and educators, coaches, artists, cultural facilitators, people undergoing career change, etc.
Just as the training does not aim to train psychologists, even though the method is based on psychological concepts, it does not aim to train art therapists, despite the influence of art therapy on the techniques used. The New Creative Journal Certification Training offers an overview of various approaches while focusing on the New Creative Journal method. In addition, unlike art therapy, the New Creative Journal is practised without a therapist, in a notebook, primarily using dry media, lots of writing and creative techniques that are not generally used in art therapy.
• Acquisition of basic theoretical and methodological knowledge about the method.
• Intensive experience of practising the New Creative Journal™ method during the program.
• Development of skills in designing and facilitating New Creative Journal activities adapted to the context of facilitation or support.
• Development of skills to deal with different situations that may arise in the specific context of using the method in facilitation or support.
• Use of the New Creative Journal with professional ethics.
There are live meetings throughout the training program. Attendance at these scheduled videoconference meetings is mandatory. Absences must be made up by repeating the content, either in a one-on-one meeting with an instructor or by watching the replay and doing the exercises suggested, when possible. However, a maximum of 4 three-hour meetings may be missed in the entire training course.
The practicum, which must last 15 hours, is organized by the participant and supervised remotely by a co-instructor. The terms are flexible; you can organize it according to your objectives, either at your workplace, with your patients, with acquaintances, etc.
• Participation in live meetings via videoconference.
• Regular practice of New Creative Journaling™.
• Participation in discussions on the discussion forum.
• A review of the personal process, including a reading report at the end of the first module.
• A short report on ethics.
• A 30-minute mini animation, followed by a short report.
• A 15-hour practicum.
• A practicum report and a final personal review.
The training enables participants to apply the New Creative Journal™ method dynamically in their work, while remaining within the scope of their personal and professional background. Because the New Creative Journal™ is a flexible approach, you will be able to adapt it in many ways:
Integrate it into your current practice, when relevant — for example in therapeutic support, coaching, education, or cultural activities.
Develop independent projects, such as facilitating group workshops or designing proposals for various organisations.
Create your own tools by combining different approaches or designing original facilitation resources.
Bring it into your personal and family life, enriching your own creative and emotional well-being.
Upon completion of the training, you will receive a certificate authorising you to use the New Creative Journal™ trademark in the promotion of your professional activities. This certification serves as a mark of credibility and a seal of quality. You will also have the right to use the Certified Facilitator title and logo, provided as part of a graphic materials kit.
You will find information about the cost of the training and payment options on page 9 of the detailed program.
You may be eligible for a tax credit and may be able to deduct the cost of tuition from your taxable income if the training is undertaken to acquire or enhance professional skills. Eligibility details depend on the conditions established by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
